Search Engine Optimization or SEO, in my terms is the art of optimizing a website for search engines. SEO of your site entails the following:
- Cleanup of stray code – This could be unnatural line breaks, errors, characters out of place or the necessity to remove or replace whole lines of code to make the page flow smoothly. Keep in mind that search engine bots (or spiders) are blind and feel their way around; so if you don’t have things labeled properly or have large chunks of code that makes no sense they will be lost as to what they are feeling around for.
- Image Resizing – this is SEO 101 and the easiest way to make your site load faster. Oftentimes a novice coder or site owner will load an image on their site in full width/height which usually carries a large file size but then reduce the width/height to meet their needs. This takes times for the viewer to download the image when instead, the image could be re-sized properly cutting down on load time.
- META Tags – The description of your pages should always be different as well, they also need to be a certain length. We’ll make sure your meta description and keywords actually fit the page it is meant for.
- Copywriting – while a site owner may have good information on the page, quite often it doesn’t fit the keywords they are trying to rank for. We’ll go through the copy and add to it as well dress it for the reader to be able to follow.
